Frequently asked questions

Can I keep a diary without an internet connection?

Yes. Recording, text editing and local saving work offline. Online speech recognition, weather and iCloud sync need a connection, but you can keep recording without one.

Why can’t I start recording?

Find Mooncat in iOS Settings and check microphone access. If a phone call or another audio app interrupted recording, finish that activity and try again in Mooncat. If the problem continues, email us with your device model and iOS version.

Does transcription always upload my recording?

Mooncat prioritizes Apple’s on-device speech recognition. If your device or language does not support it, you will be asked whether to allow online recognition. Audio is sent to Apple only after you agree. You can decline and keep the recording or type the text yourself.

Why are my latest entries missing from iCloud?

Saving locally does not mean cloud sync has finished. Check your iCloud sign-in, available storage, connection and the sync status in the app. Do not uninstall the app to troubleshoot: you could lose local entries that have not synced. Contact support if the issue continues.

Can I recover a deleted entry?

Check Recently Deleted first. Entries are normally kept for 30 days and can be restored during that time. Once you confirm permanent deletion, they cannot be restored there. Deletion on other devices and in iCloud depends on sync; the end of the retention period does not mean all copies are erased immediately.

How do I cancel a subscription or restore purchases?

To cancel, open iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions, select Mooncat and follow the instructions. To restore purchases, use the Apple Account you purchased with and select Restore Purchases on the app’s membership page. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
